Day 9: The Integrity Loop
The test of leadership in the age of AI

TL;DR: In the age of AI, fear rises faster, and many systems quietly start celebrating power over truth. The leaders we need are the ones who can notice that temptation in real time and choose a different path. Connect builds shared reality so truth can surface. Disconnect breaks inaccurate links so you can see clearly. Interconnect rewires the system so it stays accurate as the world keeps changing.
Fear is a shortcut.
It’s the oldest one we have.
Fear of losing wealth. Fear of losing status. Fear of being left out of the rooms where decisions get made. Fear of being irrelevant in a world that is changing faster than our nervous systems can process.
In the age of AI, that fear is going to spike more often. The pace is faster. The information is noisier. The stakes feel higher. And when people get scared, a predictable thing happens inside organizations.
They start celebrating power over truth.
Not out loud. Quietly. Confidence gets rewarded over accuracy. Loyalty gets rewarded over candor. Speed gets rewarded over learning. The person who makes things feel stable rises. The person who complicates the story, even if they are right, becomes a problem.
That is how a system drifts. It chooses control over learning. It creates performative alignment. People look aligned. Reality is not in the loop.
If you want to lead in the age of AI, here is the question:
When fear shows up and power is available, will you stay awake enough to choose truth anyway?
That is what awareness is for. And that is why I built this framework: Connect. Disconnect. Interconnect. It’s a learning system for leadership. It’s a path that helps you stay close to reality.
Connect
Connect is how you build shared reality with people and ideas. It’s how you create enough trust for someone to bring something true into the room. It’s how you lead without forcing.
Connect often starts solo. You’re trying to understand your relationship to the world. You make connections. You build a worldview. You start to move.
Questions for Connect
When you feel fear rise, do you move toward people to learn, or toward power to control?
In your world, is it safer for people to tell the truth, or safer to perform alignment?
When someone disagrees with you, do you get curious, or do you reach for power?
Disconnect
Then the world changes. A new technology emerges. A new constraint appears. A new problem shows up. Your model stops working. That is the moment you realize you have to start over. Not by throwing everything away, but by getting honest about what no longer computes.
Disconnect is the phase where you step back, rest, and get distance. It’s where you question assumptions that used to feel obvious. It’s where you break inaccurate links. It’s also where you ask the real question. Do I stay inside the old story, or do I evolve?
Questions for Disconnect
4) When your model stops working, what story do you cling to that keeps you from updating?
5) What is your move for creating distance so you can see your assumptions instead of acting them out?
6) When you change your mind, do you treat that as growth, or as a threat to your status?
Interconnect
Interconnect is the rewiring. You rebuild your ideas into a more accurate pattern, then you design feedback loops so reality can keep correcting you over time. This is leadership at the system level. Not controlling people, but building conditions where truth can travel and learning is normal.
This is where fractals shows up. The same pattern repeats at every scale. Inside you. Inside a team. Inside a culture. Inside a product. The scale changes, the pattern stays the same.
Then the system becomes invisible from the inside. And you return to connect. And you start the cycle over.
Questions for Interconnect
7) Where in your team or company does reality get filtered before it reaches the people with power?
8) What are you currently rewarding that looks like alignment, but quietly blocks learning?
9) If you could redesign one loop this quarter to keep reality in the room, what would you change first?

It was too hard to get Nano Banana to draw a fractal of this.
If the age of AI is going to reshape the world, then the quality of that world depends on the quality of the leaders shaping it.
The leaders we need are not the ones who generate the most output. They are the ones who can hold awareness in the middle of the loop. Who can stay connected without controlling. Who can step back without collapsing. Who can rebuild without clinging.
Connect. Disconnect. Interconnect.
That is the integrity loop. That is how we move forward, in stride, on purpose.

If you want help building this loop inside your leadership, your team, or your organization, reach out. I do 1:1 executive coaching, workshops, and facilitation designed to make reality easier to tell, easier to hear, and easier to act on.
