TL;DR: AI can now track your communication — weekly, automated, and cumulative. This changes everything about how you get better.

This past week, I didn't get good sleep. I didn't even notice until my Apple Watch told me. Only then did I pause and realize it. The whole week, I had tossed and turned. Oh, that’s why I feel crabby, I said to myself. I decided to renew my commitment to winding down at 8 pm.

The same thing happens with communication at work. Week by week goes by and something feels off, but we keep moving forward.

  • Did Nancy and George actually understand the new initiative? I’ll think about it later…

  • Did my explanation run longer than it needed to? Oh, I need to prepare for my next meeting.

  • Am I using fewer filler words than last week — now that I understand what the stakeholders want? Maybe… I’ve got a slack message I need to respond to.

The future is almost here. Like how you track sleep habits, you can now track communication habits, so you can do something about it. One day, it will be a click of a button on your Apple Watch. For now, it lives on Claude.

As an executive coach, I am the witness to leaders’ growth. I am here to help leaders have a second pair of eyes on themselves so they can better achieve their goals. And I think technology can help amplify coaching.

Eight months ago, I wrote this article, giving readers a single AI prompt to help anyone clearly assess how they were communicating. Drop a meeting transcript into an AI, get an analysis. One transcript. One snapshot.

Clients were amazed. But, ultimately, it was another thing. They went back on automatic pilot. I think it’s because a snapshot can't tell you if you're getting better. It can only tell you how you communicated in that one moment.

In those eight months, AI has taken a giant leap forward.

The time lapse

What if you could track your communication the way your watch tracks your sleep?

Week after week, across all your meetings. AI is witnesses how you communicate. The actual words, when you realized it or not. A pattern across time, not a single frozen moment.

That's what's now possible with Claude. Here’s how: You connect a tool like Otter.Ai, Google Drive, Fathom.Ai, JourneyLoop.Ai that transcribes your meetings to Claude.Ai. You create a new skill or use mine (link to download it below), and schedule a task to run every week to analyze your communication habits.

Just a few, easy steps to get valuable insights about how you are communicating. Question: What’s stopping you?

Imagine winding down from your work week on Friday afternoon, receiving a customized report accurately analyzing how you moved through work conversations, presentations, sales calls that week. You look at your calendar for the next week, and you see what needs to be done. You are on top of your game.

This is changing how my clients see themselves. The way they understand their communication habits. Heck. It’s changing the way they perceive time because rather than waiting for a breakthrough insight, this offers small adjustments, made week after week, that bend the trajectory over time.

People have caught on to sleep optimization. It’s now time to think the same way about our communication habits. You can't adjust what you can't see.
